How can people know unless they have been told?
There are many, many Seattleites who want to do the work of caring for one another but don't know where to start. A series of meaningful, collaborative community meetings in the UDistrict (and beyond) led to the identification of this need:
a database that empowers people to find their way to help.
a database that empowers people to find their way to help.
One Resource Database
The hardest part of getting a resource like this right is making sure that the information it offers is accurate, up-to-date, accessible, and actionable. We do this by regularly auditing all information contained in the Resource.
Multiple Audiences
It's vital to give good information to those who are, at this moment, in need. It's just as crucial to empower those who want to meet their neighbors' needs. The Resource attempts to meet both these challenges.
Values & Principles
At it's heart, this is about being a community where care is abundant, equitable, and accessible. While not everyone who uses the Resource will agree on how to care, we all want to find ways to create be a care-filled society.
Partners
Many people's hearts, hands, and support have contributed to the Resource. The Union Gospel Mission of Seattle has done great work in gathering leaders and organizations together to create this Resource.
